Taylor Masamitsu

Ellie here!  Help me in welcoming Taylor Masamitsu to the studio as a voice teacher.  Taylor is an amazing vocal technician and has a Masters degree in vocal pedagogy from Columbia University and is currently pursuing his second MA in vocal pedagogy at The Voice Workshop / University of Wales. In addition, Taylor received his Professional Diploma (PD) in Opéra from École Normale de Musique de Paris and his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Vocal Arts from The Herb Alpert School of Music at The California Institute of the Arts.

Taylor’s students have gone on to Broadway productions of Hadestown, The Color Purple, School of Rock, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Once on this Island, and others. His younger students have been accepted to UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, SUNY Purchase, LaGuardia High School, LACHSA, and Frank Sinatra School of Performing Arts.

Taylor has worked as the production voice teacher for NBC Universal productions and is on the faculty at Columbia University. Taylor has previously been on faculty at the CalArts Community Arts Partnership and he’s done extensive work with kids as young as 4, too – at Inside Broadway (NYC), Plaza de la Raza (Los Angeles), West Creek Academy (Los Angeles), and Burbank Unified School District.

Taylor has also worked in other roles on various shows including as a music director and as Music Supervisor for RWS Entertainment.

Taylor is passionate about arts education accessibility and nurturing diversity.  Toward that end, in June 2020 he co-founded Creating for Justice, an initiative that offers artistic and other professional services in exchange for donations that directly benefit anti-racist organizations. For more information, please check out www.creatingforjustice.org!
